It is time we Harpooners get together and share our Harpoon Happiness. So come and join us! This scheduled weekend will be an opportunity for just that! This event will be hosted by Camp Quinipet Sailing on Shelter Island, NY. (Click for MAP)

Shelter Island is between the North and South Folks of Long Island, NY. Shelter Island is accessible from the Northeast by the Orient Point Ferry. It is a 1.5 hour trip, from New London, CT than just the short ferry trip to Shelter Island. From the East, Shelter Island is just 1.5 hours from New York City.

      PLANNED SCHEDULE
The event will begin at 3:30pm on Friday and run until Sunday afternoon about 4:00pm. We will plan to run 3 or 4 semi-formal races, talk about our boats, and have a sail maker discuss his sails. This sail maker outfits Quinipet's 6 Harpoons. We will sail on the Peconic and Southhold Bay, some of the prime sailing waters of the Northeast. Launch service will be provided if you choose to anchor your harpoon for the weekend or you may choose to use the on site ramp. Breakfast, before the sail in the morning, will be provided. (Launch Service can be provided both before and after the scheduled time of the regatta in case you want to leave your boat in the water)

      BOAT RENTALS
Harpoon boat rentals will be available also. Quinipet has 4 (4.6) Harpoons that they will make available for the weekend. They have the teaching rig with the Lee Sails package. All are in great shape. The boats will include Lifejackets and a mooring for the weekend. The price will be about $150 for the boat rental.

      COST
The price for the weekend will be $50 per crew to cover the cost of hiring weekend staff, race administration, and breakfast. In total: Harpoon Ragatta Price -$50, Hotel +or- $125 per night, Ferry $30 round trip, Boat rental $150, and Meals if not included with hotel. Please Look for a more detailed schedule, Hotel listings, and Registration forms to be released as soon as possible.

      A NOTE about Quinipet
We are a non profit group geared to give children the experience of sailing at a low price. We run weekly programs for all ages and abilities for about $300 per week. That program includes 20 hours of lessons, all meals and lodging. We also maintain a large retreat center along with many other summer camping programs.

The Harpoon Happening is a Go!
The event will be run with whatever numbers we can get. A registration form will be sent out to finalize plans with those who have expressed interest. We are excited and hopeful that the event will grow. Thank you for your support!
